Gun violence is personal to Buffy. This issue has tragically impacted so many families in our East Bay and is deeply intertwined with income inequality, education inequity, food insecurity, and the urgent need for corporate and government accountability. Buffy is dedicated to tackling the root causes behind gun violence on every front.

In her first term as Assemblywoman, Buffy secured $30 million - the largest investment in California history - in funding for the California Violence Intervention Program (CalVIP). She authored AB 1603, which allowed CalVIP to maximize its resources by granting key funding to the most impacted communities. Because of this bill, the people hit hardest by gun violence are now getting the help they need sooner.
